Preparing for Bioterrorism: Project BioShield, BARDA, and the Medical Countermeasure Enterprise

On November 28, 2007, Brad Smith gave a briefing on Capitol Hill entitled “Preparing for Bioterrorism: Project BioShield, BARDA, and the Medical Countermeasure Enterprise.” Dr. Smith discussed the threat of bioterrorism, the status of developing new medicines and vaccines to counter biosecurity threats, and suggested four steps that the Congress can take to improve the current situation. The briefing was hosted by the AAAS Center for Science, Technology and Security Policy and was attended by several dozen Congressional Staff and others.
