Professional Profile

Ms. Bouri is a Senior Analyst at the Center for Biosecurity . Her research focuses on disaster management and response, emerging infectious diseases and global health security. Ms. Bouri is Co-managing Editor of the Biosecurity News Today, a daily biosecurity news update. She also is an Associate Editor of Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice, and Science. Ms. Bouri worked for the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism and she co-authored a publication assessing environmental decontamination efforts following a large-scale bioterrorist attack.

Prior to joining the Center, Ms. Bouri worked for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START Center), a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence, and in the Bureau of African Affairs at the State Department, where she was involved with a variety of foreign policy initiatives, ranging from regional security to foreign assistance. She also worked as a Women’s and Sexual Health Counselor at the University of Maryland’s Health Center. Ms. Bouri interned with Oxfam America, focusing on how trade and pharmaceutical provisions impact access to medicines, and Global Justice’s Campaign for Child Survival, focusing on anti-malaria initiatives. 

Ms. Bouri obtained a BA with high honors from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she studied international relations, international development and conflict management. Ms. Bouri is currently pursuing a master of public health (MPH) degree at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she is concentrating in health in crisis and humanitarian assistance.
