Paul Etkind

Dr. Etkind joined the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in April 2009, and he serves as the Senior Analyst for Immunizations. As such, he has a range of responsibilities related to immunization and vaccine-preventable disease epidemiology, including policy analysis, program design, research and evaluation, writing for publication, technical assistance, communication of findings to the field, program and budget management, and project promotion. As a member of the Community Health Team, he also serves as a resource on infectious disease prevention and control, HIV/STI, maternal and child health, epidemiology, and adolescent health project activities. 

Dr. Etkind has worked in public health practice since the late 1970s. In that time, he has served as an Epidemiologist and Program Manager in the Epidemiology, Immunization, and STI Prevention Programs of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. More recently, he served as the Deputy Director and Epidemiologist for the Department of Health and Community Services of the city of Nashua, NH. While there, he was also the primary person responsible for public health preparedness planning and training.

Dr. Etkind has a BA in biology from Clark University, and an MPH and DrPH from Yale University’s School of Epidemiology and Public Health.
