Roz Diane Lasker Dr. Lasker is known internationally for her work on public participation in community planning, problem solving, and policy development. She is Clinical Professor of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and, for more than a decade, she directed the Division of Public Health and the Center for the Advancement of Collaborative Strategies in Health at the New York Academy of Medicine. The Center’s work on the public’s role in emergency preparedness—including the recently released manual, With the Public’s Knowledge: A User’s Guide to the Redefining Readiness Small Group Discussion Process—is available at www.redefiningreadiness.net. Engaging the Community in Decision Making: Case Studies Tracking Participation, Voice, and Influence was also published this year. Prior to joining the Academy, Dr. Lasker served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health (Policy Development) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and as Principal Policy Analyst for the federal Physician Payment Review Commission.
