Summary
Dr. Schoch-Spana extended thanks to the many people and organizations involved in the design and execution of the conference: the Biosecurity Center leadership, the co-convening groups, behind-the-scene organizers, presenters, roundtable participants, and attendees.

She also noted that the summit was not a stand alone event, and she outlined the follow-on activities planned by the Biosecurity Center:

  • Event proceedings will be posted online and disseminated by co-convening groups.
  • The Working Group on Citizen Engagement in Health Emergency Planning, convened by the Biosecurity Center with support from the START Center, will meet to distill and disseminate best principles and practices guidance by late fall.
  • Summit organizers will consult meeting attendees and other interested parties in how best to mobilize a community of practice organized around summit topics.
