Dr. Lillibridge received his B.S. in 1977 and M.D. in 1981. He completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1984 where he was board certified in Family Medicine. That same year, he joined the Public Health Service. From 1984 through 1990 he worked with the Indian Health Service and the National Health Service Corps in Arizona, Eastern Tennessee, Kentucky as well as Oklahoma. Dr. Lillibridge was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the CDC from 1990-1992 and following that assignment, he stayed with CDC in the Disaster Assessment and Epidemiology Section of the National Center for Environmental Health. At CDC, he has garnered extensive experience in the areas of emergency, refugee and international health. In 1999, he became the Director of the Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Program. This Program was established to lead and manage the national public health preparedness effort for biological and chemical terrorism. It oversees the strategies for effecting complementary and coordinated improvements in public and private health infrastructures, policies, and systems at the local, State and Federal levels. |
