Professional Biography
Dr. Martin Hugh-Jones has been a professor of Epidemiology at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine since 1978. In 1995, he also became the moderator of ProMED - an on-line global infectious disease surveillance system. Dr. Hugh-Jones earned his D.V.M. and Ph.D. from Christ's College at the University of Cambridge, and has an M.P.H. from Tulane University. Before becoming a professor, Hugh-Jones was an FAO Regional Epizootiologist at Centro Pan Americano de Febre Aftosa in Rio de Janiero from 1975-1977. He worked for the Animal Health Group in Reading University's Department of Agriculture from 1973-1975, and served a Senior Research Officer at the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Surrey, England from 1965-1977.
