Professional Biography
Dr. Glass is assistant professor of Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and a core faculty member of the Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health. He is broadly trained in social science and epidemiology. Dr. Glass' research examines the impact of social factors including social networks and support on health and well-being in late life. His current work centers around how neighborhoods and communities influence the risk of disability and institutionalization. Dr. Glass has been a faculty fellow at the Texas A&M University Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center over much of the last decade. He was part of a team of investigators who conducted an international comparative study funded by the National Science Foundation of 10 mass casualty events. He has an on-going interest in how communities and organizations respond to medical disasters. Dr. Glass teaches courses in psychosocial epidemiology and aging.
