Christine SooHoo, MS Analyst- Area of Professional Expertise: Biological Threat Agents, Emerging Infectious Diseases

Ms. SooHoo is a Research Analyst at the Center for Biosecurity of UPMC and an Associate Editor for the peer-reviewed journal publication, Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice, and Science. Ms. SooHoo is a contributor to the Center’s Biosecurity Briefing, a weekly news update on issues in bioterrorism, biodefense, public policy, public health preparedness, and emerging infectious diseases. She also conducts research and provides analytical support for the Center’s programs. Prior to joining the Center, Ms. SooHoo earned a Master of Science degree in Biohazardous Threat Agents and Emerging Infectious Diseases from the Georgetown University. She also worked in the Division of Integrated Biodefense at Georgetown University Medical Center’s Imaging Science and Information Systems (ISIS) Center – Project Argus, and with the United Nations Foundation’s anti-malaria campaign. Her research for Project Argus focused on retrospective open source case studies of influenza pandemics of the 20th century to compare the indications and warning (I&W) of influenza for a seasonal and pandemic year. The research also aimed to develop an I&W taxonomy specific to pandemic influenza in support of the global infectious disease surveillance conducted for Project Argus. Prior to that, Ms. SooHoo worked in forensic consulting and in sports medicine . She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Science from the University of California – Los Angeles. |
