Mr. Rambhia is an Analyst at the Center for Biosecurity of UPMC. He conducts research in support of Center programs, with focus on hospital and healthcare preparedness, pandemic influenza, research and development policy, and zoonotic diseases. Mr. Rambhia authored an article on the causes, effects, and potential solutions to the growing problem of antibiotic resistant bacteria and co-authored a report reviewing progress in the National Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) as well as a number of issue briefs during the 2009 H1N1 Influenza Pandemic. Mr. Rambhia is Co-managing Editor of the Biosecurity News in Brief, a daily biosecurity news update. He also serves as an Associate Editor of the peer-reviewed journal, Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice, and Science. Prior to joining the Center, Mr. Rambhia obtained a BS in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and a BA in Political Science from Yale University in 2007. His thesis was a study of light-dependent plant development with a focus on ubiquitin-directed proteolysis in Arabidopsis thaliana. Mr. Rambhia is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology at the Johns Hopkins University Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. In 2006, Mr. Rambhia worked as an intern for 454 Life Sciences, where he was involved in DNA sequencing projects. In 2005 he traveled to Ghana as part of the Unite for Sight program, establishing an eye clinic in a rural town.
