Jackie Fox
Senior Science Writer and Director of Communications
Managing Editor, Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice, and Science

    

Ms. Fox is Senior Science Writer and Director of Communications at the Center for Biosecurity of UPMC. She serves as Managing Editor of the journal Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice, and Science.

Prior to joining the Center in March 2004, she was executive editor and director of U.S. journals for Oxford University Press (1996 to 2003). At Oxford, she managed the publication of all U.S.-based journals, with primary responsibility for journals published in the scientific and medical fields, including the American Journal of Epidemiology, Public Health Reports, Journal of Urban Health, and Toxicological Sciences.

With more than 35 years of experience in the publishing field, Ms. Fox has been director of publications for the American Public Health Association and director of publications for the American Occupational Therapy Association, as well as working in publications at the American Counseling Association and the American Society of Association Executives. She has a BA in communications from the College of Notre Dame and is a member of APHA and the Council of Science Editors.
