Professional Profile

Ms. D'Esopo is the Senior Communications Specialist for the Center for Biosecurity of UPMC. Her responsibilities include serving as the Center's press liaison, and coordinating the Center's responses to journalists who represent national and international print, online, radio, and television news media. She also coordinates with staff and news correspondents to highlight the Center's research and analytical findings. 

Ms. D’Esopo serves as an associate editor for the journal Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice, and Science. She also provides editorial support for most of the Center's print and online publishing initiatives.

She joined the Center for Biosecurity at its founding in 2003. Prior to that, she worked for the Johns Hopkins Center for Civilian Biodefense Studies where, in 1999, she joined as the first nonfaculty member and helped to expand the Center's staff complement and enhance the organization's professional capacity.

Prior to joining the Hopkins Center, Ms. D'Esopo worked for 9 years at ORBIS Associates, a nonprofit American Indian education consulting firm in Washington, DC. A New England native, Ms. D'Esopo earned her BA in American studies from Keene State College in New Hampshire.
