The Biosecurity News in Brief is a daily update that provides timely information on issues relevant to biosecurity and biodefense. By using the Biosecurity News in Brief webpage, you agree to the following terms of use, which constitute an agreement between the Center for Biosecurity and you.  Also, subscription to the Biosecurity News in Brief serves as permission to deliver this publication to an email address supplied by the subscriber.

Indemnity: A subscriber agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Center for Biosecurity of UPMC, its managers, operators, contributors, service providers, and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents, from and against any claims, actions or demands, including without limitation reasonable legal and accounting fees, resulting from, or alleged to result from, a subscriber's use of the Biosecurity News in Brief or breach of the Terms of Use.

Disclaimer, Denial of Warranty, Limitation of Liability: The Biosecurity News in Brief consists of a free email service that is provided as information for individuals who are interested in biosecurity/biodefense issues. Jurisdiction: This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Maryland without regard to its conflict of laws rules. A subscriber expressly agrees that exclusive jurisdiction for any claim or dispute with the Biosecurity News in Brief or its managers, operators, contributors, or service providers, resides in the courts of Maryland, and further consent and agree to personal jurisdiction by the state and federal courts sitting in the State of Maryland in connection with any such dispute.

Legality of Use: The Biosecurity News in Brief makes no claims that its contents may be lawfully viewed or downloaded outside of the United States. Access to the Biosecurity News in Brief on the Center for Biosecurity's website may not be legal by certain persons or in certain countries. If a user accesses the Biosecurity News in Brief website from outside of the United States, they do so at their own risk and are responsible for compliance with the laws of their jurisdiction. These Terms of Use are governed by the internal substantive laws of Maryland without respect to its conflict of laws principles. Jurisdiction of any claims arising under these Terms of Use will lie exclusively with the state or federal courts within Maryland . If any provision of these Terms of Use is found to be invalid by any court having competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of such provision will not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these Terms of Use, which will remain in full force and effect. No waiver of any provision of these Terms of Use will be deemed a further or continuing waiver of such provision or any other provision. Except as expressly provided in another statement by The Center for Biosecurity on its website, these Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between a subscriber and the Center for Biosecurity with respect to the use of the Biosecurity News in Brief email service. No changes to these Terms of Use may be made except by a revised posting on this website.

Information Collection and Use: Subscription to the Biosecurity News in Brief will require submission of an email address and minimal demographic information. Information submitted for subscription to the Biosecurity News in Brief will be used by the Center for Biosecurity of UPMC solely for the purpose of tailoring content to readership and monitoring interest in this publication. The Center for Biosecurity of UPMC will not collect other user data, will not monitor use of the Biosecurity News in Brief online, and will not share, rent, or sell user data.

Trademarks and Service Marks: The Biosecurity News in Brief is a service mark of UPMC on behalf of the Center for Biosecurity. Its contents are provided by the Center for Biosecurity to their users in good faith. As the principal purpose of the Biosecurity News in Brief is for non-profit educational use, some or all of the contents have been provided pursuant to the doctrine of "Fair Use" as that term is defined in United States copyright law.
